How to design and develop non-standard automation equipment

When customers inform us of the functions and requirements for non-standard automation equipment, how should we design a non-standard device? Do you ever feel at a loss when opening the software on your computer, unsure of where to start and which part to design first and which to design later? Dongguan Helide Automation Equipment Co., Ltd. will introduce to you how to design non-standard automation equipment and what the development process is like.

In general, first, the development project is determined, which originates from the clear customer needs. Then, the type of product required by the customer is analyzed. Next, the design scheme is drafted, and the organization review, parts processing, and standard parts procurement are carried out, until the required product is produced.

1. Determine the development project and understand customer needs

1. Product quality requirements

2. Equipment production efficiency requirements

3. Equipment working environment

II. Product Analysis

1. Understand the production process of the product

2. Understand the dimensional requirements of various aspects of the product and the status of incoming materials

3. Communicate with customers about the precautions during the product production process

4. Technical parameters of the equipment usage location

III. Developing a plan

Engineering personnel discuss, analyze, and develop equipment plans, which include:

1. Equipment schematic diagram (overall schematic diagram, partial schematic diagram)

2. Introduction to each part of the organization

3. Action description

4. Technical parameters of equipment

IV. Plan review

An audit team consisting of engineering personnel will review the plan, and the review contents include:

1. Equipment feasibility assessment

2. Equipment cost evaluation

3. Evaluation of equipment production efficiency

4. Feasibility assessment of each structural component

V. Plan rectification

Make rectifications to the issues discussed during the review of the plan.

VI. The customer confirms the design scheme

The design proposal is submitted to the client, who then finalizes the plan based on their requirements.

VII. Design and Development

The Engineering Department shall arrange engineers to conduct mechanism design, and produce machine assembly drawings and part drawings (with part annotations in accordance with national standards)

Select the executing components and electronic control accessories, and list the processing parts inventory and standard parts purchase requisition, along with the operation manual.

VIII. Institutional Review

An audit team consisting of engineering personnel will review the designed drawings, and the review content includes:

(1) Whether the machine structure is reasonably coordinated: functionality (capability and precision), stability, safety, user-friendliness (convenience of operation), and appearance.

(2) Whether the production efficiency of the designed machine meets the customer's requirements.

(3) Machine cost.

(4) All parts of the mechanism should be simple and easy to debug and maintain.

(5) All parts should be as simple and easy to process as possible.

(6) Whether the selection of each actuator component is reasonable.

IX. Parts processing and standard parts procurement

1. The Parts Processing Department processes machine parts according to the part drawings (part processing must strictly follow the part drawings, part accuracy, and processing techniques to ensure part accuracy and processing techniques).

2. Purchasing personnel shall contact suppliers for the procurement of standard parts according to the standard parts list

X. Inspection and warehousing of processed parts and standard components

Inspectors inspect the dimensional accuracy of machined parts, machining process, model of standard parts, and installation dimensions according to the part drawings and standard parts list. After passing the inspection, the parts are handed over to warehouse personnel for storage

XI. Machine assembly

1. The assembly department shall arrange personnel for machine assembly and debugging. The assembly personnel shall collect the machined parts and standard parts from the warehouse according to the list of machined parts and standard parts.

2. Assembly personnel shall strictly follow the assembly drawing to assemble the machine

a). Whether the assembly of various parts and components, as well as the actuator, is correct

b). All moving parts operate smoothly without interference

c). Ensure that all fasteners and joints are securely fastened and reliably connected

3. The Industrial Control Department arranges electrical engineers to carry out machine power distribution, machine program writing, and debugging according to the operation manual

XII. Machine debugging

The assembly personnel conduct machine debugging according to the product engineering drawings provided by the customer. After the debugging is completed, they produce samples and submit them to the customer for confirmation of product quality

XIII. Packaging and Shipping

1. Check all fasteners and joint connections to ensure they are securely fastened and reliably connected

2. Clean the exterior of the equipment and affix necessary labels and signs

3. Indicate the splitting location, organize the splitting pipeline, and split the equipment reasonably

4. Necessary protective measures (rust prevention, moisture prevention).

5. Prepare machine spare parts, operation manuals, wiring diagrams, and other technical materials.
